Where are you located?
My studio is located in my home in Hunsbury Meadows, Northampton, UK, in the Midlands, close to the M1.
Why book Matilda Q Photography?
I am a mother myself and I have extensive experience handling and photographing babies. I am entirely baby-led, allowing them to set the pace of the session. I have had many positive comments from parents who appreciate my caring and loving style when working with their children. This patience and care is how I create such a varied and beautiful gallery of images.
What type of sessions do you photograph?
I photograph maternity, newborn, baby milestones, motherhood, cake smash, and family sessions.
What time do you schedule your sessions?
Newborn sessions take place at 10 am, and usually, other sessions take place at 2 pm.
How long will the shoot take?
Newborn sessions usually take between 2-3 hours to allow for feeds, changing, and settling. Other sessions typically last up to 1 hour.
What should we wear?
I offer a client closet for mamas and babies, which you are welcome to browse through at the beginning of the session.
What poses and props should we expect?
Many parents express concern about posing and the possibility of their baby being uncomfortable. I want to reassure you that I never pose or place them in props when they are not at their most comfortable. This means that I only move them into poses that they naturally go into themselves and I only do this when they are content and safe. I pride myself on this natural style of newborn photography which showcases your little one in a beautiful, relaxed position, artistically posed and decorated with bespoke accessories and props.
What’s the best time to book a newborn Session?
The best time to book a newborn session is typically before the baby arrives, after the 12 or 20-week scan. However, I understand that life doesn’t always go according to plan and babies can surprise us! That’s why I limit the number of newborns I take each month so that I can usually accommodate all photo shoots. I will put you on my calendar 5 to 10 days past your estimated due date, and if your little one arrives early or late, we can adjust the dates accordingly.
What if my baby has already been born?
If your baby has already been born and you feel like you have missed the newborn stage, but would still like similar photographs taken, please get in touch. I have photographed many older babies and this is usually not a problem at all. Sometimes mothers prefer to wait until they are more settled in with their new baby before getting photographs taken. I have taken beautiful photographs of babies in a newborn style up to 8 weeks old!
How much a newborn session will cost?
The session fee for a newborn portrait session is just £50 and includes a 2-3 hour session in my studio with full use of props, outfits, and accessories. There is always time included for a family portrait session and additional sibling shots if required. It also includes all professional editing and personal viewing of your gallery of images. The session fee does not include any images. All digitals and prints can be purchased individually or as part of a package with a £299 minimum spend (or £499 for all digital images).
When do we see our images?
Following your session, around 5 days to 2 weeks later you will be invited back to an ordering appointment to view your images this is when you will choose your digital package along with any additional products.
Do you offer prints, frames, and albums?
Yes, we offer a large range of prints, frames, and albums.
Do you offer any payment plans?
Yes, we offer payment plans for our clients.
How will the photos be delivered?
The digital files will be delivered in a USB, and our Standard and Exclusive packages include prints as well.
Can I buy extra photos?
Yes, I offer clients the chance to select additional photographs from their session.
What happens if we need to cancel?
The session fee is non-refundable under any circumstances. However, we are more than happy to allow you to reschedule your session from one time to another date.
Do you do shoots outdoors?
No, I only offer studio sessions.
Is the cake included in the cake smash session?
Yes, a 4-inch tall cake with four layers is included in the session.
My baby has an allergy from the cake?
You should us know if your baby has any sort of allergies, and you are welcome to provide your cake or we offer to do a different type of smash. eg, strawberry smash, watermelon splash, paint splash, the ideas are endless.
Everything sounds great! How do I book a session with you?
If you’re ready to book a session with me, be sure to review my pricing and packages, then fill out my contact form questionnaire. Once we settle on what you’re looking for, you will be sent a link to my booking site to complete the due date, and questionnaire, sign a contract, and secure your deposit. Once this is done, you’re all set and on my calendar!
